Thanks for the clarification. I gave strong feedback directly to the Oregon Brewers Festival about how their gate checking policies were promoting a very un-sustainable practice of encouraging sealed bottled water.

In terms of the taps, I was told that they had to wait for the OLCC OK to begin...

The OLCC doesn’t have a rule that would require anyone to empty water containers prior to entering or leaving a beer garden, performance area or special event area.

That being said, the event organizers are responsible for making sure that no outside alcohol enters the Brewers Festival and none of the beer goes outside the festival.

So, it sounds like a policy instituted by the event planners to make sure people weren’t bringing booze into the event.

As for the taps… OLCC didn’t get to the event until after it started. So, it was up to the OBF organizers when to start the taps.

The beer fest was awesome, there were a lot of people and a ton of beers that I got to sample. Though, the Organic Brewers Fest had a Sam Smith Organic Strawberry beer that I was hoping would be there, but I didnt see that one make the list for this particular brewers fest. Hope to see them next year.
