The response for our Miley Cyrus Portland Concert Ticket Giveaway was great and we got some good feedback from our readers on what kind of giveaways they’d like to see and how they’d like to see us do them.

So..We’re excited to bring you a ticket giveaway for Patton Oswalt who is going to be performing in Portland this Sunday September 13 at 7:30pm at the Newmark Theater at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts.

Patton Oswalt is an exceptional comedian who was a smash hit at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival and is in an explosive break out period in his career. After reaching large scale notoriety as the voice of the title character in Pixar’s Ratatouille, Patton’s acting and stand up career have gone through the roof. Patton just released his new concert film My Weakness is Strong and he’s starring in the critically acclaimed Sundance Film Festival hit Big Fan.

On Portland is giving away a pair of tickets to see Patton Oswalt in Portland. All you have to do to enter is comment on the thread below with your thoughts about Patton. We’ll pick the one comment as the winner.

Winner will be drawn on Thursday, September 10th at 7:30pm.

His awesomeness can be summed up in one phrase re: a particular KFC dish: “A failure pile in a sadness bowl.”

i truly think Patton is one of the under-rated artist out there.
When I saw his act in “My weakness is strong”, I dont think I ever laughed so hard in my life. Patton is the funniest comic out right now.

Patton is by FAR the best comedian working today. Incisive observational humor, peppered with smart pop-culture (read: nerd) references throughout, makes him a laugh riot. I defy anyone to watch/listen to My Weakness is Strong and listen to him talk about “B-word fat” and not lose their shit.

Hope I win. Desperately.

I saw Patton Oswalt @ Bridgetown Comedy Festival in ’08 – and when he called out that girl with the pint-size epilepsy warning dog, I died and went to heaven.
“When people see a tiny dog barking excitedly, they’re not going to think ‘OMG! Someone’s having an epileptic seizure – call 911!’ No, they’re going to do what everyone here just did – AWWWWWWW.”

Let me see him. I shook his hand once, give me the chance to do it again.

Patton’s piece on the Comedy Death Ray album about the KFC Snacker’s bowl should not be missed. It is an astounding piece of social commentary. Would love to see him live. His new CD is fantastic, as well.

Kind of like that HBO show, The Wire, everyone keeps telling me how awesome Patton Oswalt is, but like Patton and his treadmill, other things keep getting my attention.

Well, I won’t comment about how awesome and great Patton Oswalt is because he’d be the first to call me out (plus it’s what all the kids are doing: see above, below). After all I’m a huge fan, but I haven’t been out lighting up the comments sections on my favorite comedian websites about his purported greatness.

So, I’ll say this, I was moved by his willingness to discuss his battle with depression on “My Weakness is Strong.” It’s something a lot of celebrities, particularly comedians (RIP Richard Jeni), can’t or won’t talk about. Every time someone sees Patton Oswalt talk about it AND be funny, it helps remove a bit of the stigma related to mental illness.

Anyway, give me the tickets!

Seeing this will help me move out of my mom’s basement eating my failure pile, stacked inside my misery bowl.

Patton Oswalt is a genius — one of the best stand-ups working, and one of the best in my 20 years of following the art form. I’d place him up there with Louis CK and Bill Hicks as consistently surprising and hilarious.
